Moms Night Out

May 18, 2009

A very trusted source once told me that every mom should get out of the house (without kids) at least once a month.

If you haven't had a fun time in the past four weeks (or even if you have) come to a special Mom's Night Out starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 21, at the Skylight Theatre, 158 N. Broadway, in Milwaukee's Third Ward.

The Skylight is treating moms to appetizers in the Salon starting at 6 p.m. (cash bar available- who needs a martini?), and a sneak preview performance of the hilarious "Pirates of Penzance" at 7:30 p.m. Best of all, the fun is free!

Gather up your girlfriends and RSVP to the Skylight as soon as possible to reserve your spot.

Mother's Day Weekend

May 07, 2009

As you can imagine, this weekend has a day that is near and dear to my heart: Mother's Day.

Don't worry, there are plenty of activities taking place if you are looking for some special ways to spend the day with mom.

Second Annual Mother's Day Spa at Sprecher Brewing Company: Mothers of all ages are welcome for a special Spa Day at Sprecher. Dad and kids, tour the brewery, enjoy free soda samples (and beer if you're over 21), create a special card for mom while she partakes of wonderful mini-spa treatments including massage, reflexology, hand and feet treatments in the Rathskeller.

Mother's Day at the Betty Brinn Children's Museum: On Mother’s Day, moms receive free admission. Children can create cards and a paper wrist corsage or bracelet for a special someone in their life.

Mother's Day Brunch at the Milwaukee Public Museum: Enjoy a butterfly-themed brunch this Mother's Day at the Milwaukee Public Museum. Brunch will include children's butterfly crafts at each table, butterfly tours in Rain Forest, and two live timed butterfly releases in Puelicher Butterfly Vivarium.

Mother's Day at the Milwaukee County Zoo: Mothers receive free admission on their special day.

Mother's Day at the Domes: Treat your mother or grandmother to a visit to the Conservatory and use the blossoming backdrop of "Spring in Yorkshire" for family photos.

Mother's Day Activities at Boerner Botanical Gardens: Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens will host Mother's Day activities for families from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Mother's Day Native Plant Sale and Wildflower Hike: Both events are at the Wehr Nature Center in Whitnall Park. The plant sale is Saturday and Sunday, and the wildflower hike is at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Crime Stoppers Pancake Breakfast at Hart Park in Wauwatosa: Take mom to the seventh-annual Crime Stoppers Pancake Breakfast at the Hart Park Muellner Building from 8 a.m. until noon.

Celebrate Mother's Day at the Racine Art Museum: Enjoy free admission and refreshments.

Whatever you decide to do this weekend- don't forget to give Mom what she wants most: A GIANT HUG!
